Bike to Lunch, Lambs and Swallows

This month Spring has definitely arrived. The weather in Lancashire has been fantastic with just a few April showers to kick the month off.

Along with our trail running training we’ve been getting out on the bikes and a couple of weekends ago we had a ride out to Parbold for lunch at a lovely little café called Yours Is The Earth, as it was early (ish) we were still in time for the breakfast menu from which Wendy had a Bacon and Poached Egg Bagel and I had a Scrambled Egg and Salmon Croissant, both were great and just the right size to set us up for the ride home.

Lambs seem to be appearing wherever we look and there seem to be a lot more black or dark coloured ones than previous years, I’m not sure whether I’ve just not noticed them or this is a trend as people are more interested in natural colours for their wool, either way they all look great and it always brings a smile to my face to see lambs playing in the fields.

As the clocks went forward an hour and we are officially in British summer time the evenings are now lighter which means we can get of the roads onto the trails after work as we’re not  huge fans of running muddy trails, up and down the Lancashire hills in the dark. We’ve been lucky with the weather so far with some good evening sun to light up the hills as we ran.

This last weeks trail run along the canal finally convinced us that spring is here as we were joined along the Chorley section of the Leeds – Liverpool canal by the first Swallows, swooping along the length of the canal picking up bugs after their long trip north from Africa.

Of course it being spring, it’s not long until our first visit to Anglesey for the year where, depending on the weather, we’ll hopefully do a bit of fishing, running, biking or walking, and eating cake…
