Friday 26th May - Cable Bay & Lleiniog, Anglesey

After arriving at the Cottage, Ty Cristion, at the top end of Anglesey, calming down after the journeys encounter with the truck and unloading the car we were determined not to let the accident dampen our mood so we did what we usually do and went fishing. First stop was the other side of cable bay but the wind was a strong Westerly and we only ended up getting tiny bites and we couldn’t connect with the fish. The area [... read rest of post]

Sat 27th May: Trwyn-y-Penryhn, Anglesey

Another fine day dawned and today we woke with the anticipation of a few good fish. We elected to fish a little bit more towards Penmon Point in a bay called Trwyn-y-Penryhn than we did last bank holiday, when i caught a lovely Bass, not through choice but because of the Beaumaris Craft Festival all sorts of small boats were out in force in the area we’d previously fished. We soon made the discovery that the channel was a lot [... read rest of post]

Well we’re going again! After the last bank holiday visit we’re going to Anglesey again tomorrow (Friday) and staying over until Monday. We hope to get quite a bit of fishing done although the weather doesn’t look like it’s going to be too kind but what the hell, if we waited for good weather in the UK before we did anything we’d all stay inside. Everything is now packed and ready to be loaded into the car first thing tomorrow [... read rest of post]

Sunday 30th April - Cable Bay & Beaumaris Bass

After Saturdays exploration and chat with Gareth we mounted our expedition to Cable Bay with some heavy duty rock fishing gear and some lighter rods just in case we fancied a bit of float fishing. We arrived at the car park at about 10am and followed a path around to the left onto a rocky outcrop. The weather had closed in a bit over night and although it never rained, the sky stayed hazy throughout the session. After numerous bait [... read rest of post]

Saturday 29th April - A 'Reccie' on Anglesey

After Friday nights adventures we got up for a late (very late!) breakfast and on opening the curtains were greeted with another fantastic day. Blazing sunshine and hardly any wind at all. We decided that we were well overdue for a bit of a walk so got together a rucksack of light fishing gear and another of sandwiches and drinks and headed to the South East corner of the island to Llanddwyn Island. We payed the £2 to park near [... read rest of post]

Anglesey - A Spring Arrival

After a leisurely journey from Preston we arrived on the island a little to early to get into the cottage so we stopped for a cup of tea and some cake at a cafe in Beaumaris – the weather was fantastic and the views across the Menai Straits of the mainland were beautiful. We arrived at the cottage and as soon as we’d unpacked all the gears set out to “Porth Tywyn-mawr” or “Sandy Beach” to dig some lugworm for [... read rest of post]

Everything is packed, more sea fishing gear than a Discovery Reel time fishing show and almost as much walking stuff as Rays Mears could manage. The weather looks like it’s going to be kind to us and the bait has been ordered ready to be collected from Victoria Pier Angling on our way. We’re staying at the Top end of the island in a cottage just North of Rhosybol on the Southern side of Parys Mountain so, if the weather [... read rest of post]
