A Very Odd Year - Part 1

Not entirely sure why I stopped blogging, a few other things going on but no particular reason but I’m back now and hopefully I’ll get some more fishing done and some walking done. So without any more mumbling what have we been doing fishing wise. Well, to be perfectly honest, not a whole lot, we went to Anglesey for a week at the beginning of June and stayed at Ty Cristion, was fantastic. We didn’t really catch much but as [... read rest of post]

A Long Rest From Blogging

Well… that was a bit of a long gap between posts, I don’t know what happened or why I stopped but I guess it was something to do with the the fact that we haven’t really been fishing properly since last summer. We’ve dabbled a bit but I think we were both a bit run down after the disappointment of our Devon trip and just couldn’t get motivated. But thats all over now! The tackle has been cleaned, line replaced [... read rest of post]

Formby Point - Search For Lug Then Hunt The Bass

After seeing on the internet some stunning Bass coming out at Formby Point and a huge 9lb 12oz fish being caught at Crosby during the previous week I arranged with a few friends to meet up at the car park at the end of Lifeboat Road at 6.00am – yes, that’s 6 in the morning! It was a struggle getting up in time to meet the guys but once on the beach, looking back towards the sand dunes, the dawn [... read rest of post]

Anglesey July / August 2006 - Part 2, Sea Fishing

After the long hot and wind free July we were looking forward to some lazy days fishing from the rocks on Anglesey. Alas the weather gods had a different plan for us and after lazing around in the sun on, of all things, Sunday (what else…) we woke on Monday to rain and a strong Westerly wind which dented our plans a little so we did a bit of walking instead. After a while, I’m not sure which day we [... read rest of post]

Plan F - Cymyran Bay, Anglesey

Plan F was Cymyran Bay, behind RAF Valley. The road to the beach is, to say the least, a little bumpy, but the end result is worth it. Cymyran Bay is almost unknown to most people and hence was almost deserted when we got there. We made our way to the deep channel between Holy Island and Anglesey proper and cast in our large crabs baits. We know the Bass cruise this channel when the tide turns so we waited [... read rest of post]

Anglesey, Newborough Beach

After a cuppa and picking up some different gear we quickly drove down to Newborough to catch the last hour of the flood and a couple of hours down again. As we arrived a couple of people were leaving which didn’t look to good but on arrival we spotted a few people fishing into the surf but they seemed to be having a lot of problems with weed – here we go again I thought! The venue changes dramatically during [... read rest of post]

Sat 27th May: Trwyn-y-Penryhn, Anglesey

Another fine day dawned and today we woke with the anticipation of a few good fish. We elected to fish a little bit more towards Penmon Point in a bay called Trwyn-y-Penryhn than we did last bank holiday, when i caught a lovely Bass, not through choice but because of the Beaumaris Craft Festival all sorts of small boats were out in force in the area we’d previously fished. We soon made the discovery that the channel was a lot [... read rest of post]

Sunday 30th April - Cable Bay & Beaumaris Bass

After Saturdays exploration and chat with Gareth we mounted our expedition to Cable Bay with some heavy duty rock fishing gear and some lighter rods just in case we fancied a bit of float fishing. We arrived at the car park at about 10am and followed a path around to the left onto a rocky outcrop. The weather had closed in a bit over night and although it never rained, the sky stayed hazy throughout the session. After numerous bait [... read rest of post]
