Oil Slick Drifting Towards Ireland and Wales
Posted on February 18th, 2009 No comments yet, your thoughts are welcomeJust when we thought things couldn’t get any worse, with Europe trying to push through legislation to limit our sport, it seems a Russian aircraft carrier has accidently spilt an estimated 1000 tonnes of oil into the Irish sea. We can only hope that the oil will disperse out at sea before being washed onto the Irish and Welsh coasts causing untold environmental damage to these beautiful areas.

The Mighty River Ribble
Posted on February 15th, 2007 No comments yet, your thoughts are welcomeJust a quick plug for a couple of blogs regarding one of our local rivers, the Ribble. Internationally important for it’s diverse ecosystem it meanders 75 miles from West Yorkshire through Lancashire into the Irish Sea.
A blog dedicated to the River Ribble, one of Britain’s last great wilderness areas, full of wild beauty, with many moods and seasons as it meanders through its Green Belt and Floodplains.
Dedicated to preserving the beauty of the River Ribble, and opposing the Riverworks ‘vision’ to build a barrage and develop green spaces, causing damage to wildlife and the environment and increasing the risk of flooding to our homes.

Menai Straits, North Wales / Anglesey – Oil Slick
Posted on June 29th, 2006 No comments yet, your thoughts are welcomeAfter the announcement during last week of the oil slick spotted in the Menai Straits, between Anglesey and the North Wales mainland, many people were very concerned about the ecological ramifications of such an event.
The BBC had this to say last monday so it appears that the scale of the slick was not as great as it first appeared and according to the local coastguard and the environment agency the environmental impact on the area should be minimal.
Lets hope the slick disperses quickly, leaving this beautiful area untouched by the pollution of modern living!
