After the announcement during last week of the oil slick spotted in the Menai Straits, between Anglesey and the North Wales mainland, many people were very concerned about the ecological ramifications of such an event. The BBC had this to say last monday so it appears that the scale of the slick was not as great as it first appeared and according to the local coastguard and the environment agency the environmental impact on the area should be minimal.
